Power Features
Some of the power features available with
the full, commercial version of CrystalMaker.
Flexible data input/output
CrystalMaker 3 is one of the most flexible crystallographic input programs!
It has built-in support for the major database file formats, including the
following text file formats:-
- Cambridge Crystallographic Database FDAT
- Brookhaven Protein Data Bank (PDB) files
- Rutherford-Appleton Laboratory CCL
- Crystallographic Interchange Format (CIF)
- Daresbury Laboratory CSSR
- Inorganic Crystal Structures Database (ICSD)
- SHELX
- STRUPLO
- MacMolecule 1.x
- Chem3D cartesian
- CrystalMaker extended text format
It is easy to create your own text data files for display in CrystalMaker
- or edit standard database file output. You can save your data in fast,
compact, CrystalMaker binary files.
You can also export various kinds of structural data as text files:-
- coordinates files (listing of fractional and/or orthogonal coordinates
for all atoms displayed)
- bond summary files (detailed listing of bond distances and angle information,
for all atoms in the asymmetric unit of a crystal)
- CrystalMaker extended data format
- MacMolecule 1.x format
- Chem3D cartesian format
- PDB format
- CIF format
You can also import/export tables of element colours & radii. This
makes it easy to switch between working with (say) organic crystals, and
inorganic, mineral structures.
Export High-Resolution Graphics
Copy to the clipboard in vector format (easy to edit in graphics programs),
or as high-quality pixel maps. Export graphics as PICT files - either QuickDraw
pictures, or pixel maps. You can specify resolution in pixels-per-inch for
the destination file or clipboard, in order to ensure maximum quality.
Create QuickTime Digital Movies
QuickTime movies are ideal for use in multimedia and
other educational material: CrystalMaker-3 saves them in cross-platform
format, which is fast becoming the industry standard for digital video.
CrystalMaker is probably unique in that it has a built-in video recorder
letting you generate not only traditional "linear" video, but
also stunning interactive QuickTime VR object movies - all at the click
of a button (but with advanced customization also available)...
- Linear QuickTime: Record QuickTime movies as you work! Ideal
for preparing animations for classroom/demonstration use.
- QuickTime VR: create self-contained, 3D rotating crystals as
QuickTime VR object movies - all at the click of a button: CrystalMaker
does the rest!
Optimized for maximum speed on your Mac
CrystalMaker is shipped with versions optimized for 3 different processors:
020 (runs on all Macs with the mc68020 processor, or later), FPU version
(2-3 times faster than the 020 version; requires a Math Coprocessor), native
PowerPC version (at least 10 times faster than the 020 version!)
Diffraction Command
Use our free CrystalDiffract software as a CrystalMaker
"plug-in". Edit a structure in CrystalMaker, select the Diffraction
command from the Transform menu, and immediately see the effect on the diffraction
pattern.
Crystal Structures Library
The full version of CrystalMaker includes over 300 fully-annotated
crystal files, saved in CrystalMaker binary format for instant display.
The library includes inorganic, organic, technological and mineral phases.
There are over 200 minerals, including most of the minerals detailed in
Deer Howie & Zussman's "Rock Forming Minerals" student edition!
Ideal for teaching and for research!
De Luxe Printed & Bound User's Guide
Beautifully-produced, lavishly-illustrated 240-page manual. Includes
a step-by-step tutorial, detailed description of the program's features,
examples, menu reference, and handy tips on getting the most out of this
program.
CD-ROM Edition with megabytes of value
CrystalMaker 3 .1 CD-ROM Edition features online help,
electronic user's guide (in addition to the printed guide), CrystalDiffract
powder diffraction software and multimedia extras including QuickTime and
QuickTime VR object movies, desktop patterns, etc.
(A floppy disc version is available as an alternative to the CD-ROM Edition;
please specify when ordering.)
Save your Favourite Settings
Customize your copy of CrystalMaker by saving your favourite
settings in a preferences file. At any time, you can switch between your
current settings, the default ("factory") settings, or your saved
preferences.
Free Technical Support
All registered users are entitled to free technical support, advance
notification of new program developments, and may be eligible for special
